2009-12-05 [hanhepi]: what contest? maybe you should advertise it more? casually slip the wiki name into conversation... like [Mortified Penguin] does with bob's diner.

2009-12-05 [Mortified Penguin]: Speaking of cabbage, Bob's Diner is now having a sale on discarded turnips! ...you heard right, folks! DISCARDED TURNIPS! ...those high and mighty turnip companies thought these sweet babies were just too good for you, so they threw them away! Lucky for you though, the fine folks at Bob's Diner fished them out of the trash... just for YOU. So come on by and bring some cash. You've never had food as diverse as this! Open 24/7! (Closed on Tuesdays)

2009-12-07 [*Phoenix*]: lol. That's hilarious!!!! Makes me think of the nasty turnips on Animal Crossing games. XD

2009-12-07 [Pnelma Tirian]: I've always been meaning to get some discarded turnips but they're always so damn expensive. Maybe now that they're on sale I'll splurge a little! :D

2009-12-07 [*Phoenix*]: lol XD

2010-05-06 [Hendercrazy]: To all I Believe in Elftowners: Feel free to add any art wikis you've made over at the Art Wikis of Elftown wiki to easily find current active ET creative folks! :D

2010-05-07 [*Phoenix*]: WE STILL NEED ENTRIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

>.<

2010-05-08 [Kyrinn]: Havent had the time for anything.... <:C

2010-05-11 [*Phoenix*]: me neither...

2010-05-11 [Paul Doyle]: I'm writing the rough draft of my second novel. Sorry, but my attention is elsewhere right now . . . I'm not often on ET, of late.

2010-05-12 [*Phoenix*]: I've noticed a lot of people I know haven't been on lately....I know I haven't either...

2010-05-13 [Ramirez]: I blame my terrible internet connection at home. Hopefully when I start working my connection will be better and I'll try to figure some more things to lively up our bunch here.

2010-05-15 [*Phoenix*]: I used to have dial up so I feel for you....

2010-08-03 [black dragon19]: hey peeps

2010-08-03 [*Phoenix*]: Hwello!

2010-08-03 [WonderTweek]: *Walks in* Hai!

2011-01-30 [Artsieladie]: Hi everyone! *waves* Does anyone come here anymore? How can we breathe life back into this great concept?

Hmm.. about the dial up connection. Still have it and it sucks. Still hoping for this to change. *feels sorry for anyone still stuck having to use it* :/

I will be making more banners soon. :)

2011-03-03 [WonderTweek]: Why on earth do all you crazy people still have dial up? @_@ It costs the same to have normal internet now-a-days xD

2011-03-03 [Artsieladie]: Not true here and in some areas the only way available to connect is by dial-up.

2011-03-04 [~Valkyrie~]: True. I remember it was only a couple of years ago that they put fiber optic lines through my parents' neighborhood. I remember because they ripped up the corner of my mom's little flower bed and the sprinkler lines out front. :/

2011-03-04 [Artsieladie]: The phone company here have been going to put through fiber optics here for about 4 years now, but they haven't yet. They don't see enough profiting dollar signs to do it. The fact that people have already given them oodles of money through the years means nothing. :/

2011-03-05 [WonderTweek]: Sad day dude D:

2011-03-06 [~Valkyrie~]: lol, yeah

2011-05-03 [Sagacious Turkey]: I believe in Harvey Den- er, Elftown. I believe in Elftown.

2011-09-26 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Let's get this going again? I'll even redesign a mascot or we can have a competition for it!

2011-09-26 [Paul Doyle]: Given all that's happened with certain people on this page, this page deserves a complete, from-scratch reboot with new graphics, poetry and everything else replacing the old stuff. Otherwise this page will be forever associated with those (banned)people and will always be stuck with that stigma. Just my two-bits' worth . . .

2011-09-26 [XxTsomexX]: Good idea.

2011-09-26 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I agree! Of course I'll help to my fullest Alex! <3

2011-09-27 [Ramirez]: I've apparently missed all the drama. I've been so busy lately with school and working I literally only log onto elftown to check messages. But if that's how y'all feel, I trust there's good reason.

2011-09-27 [Nocturnaliss]: I'm pretty much also online just to check my (non-existing- messages... but I still do believe Elftown could be so much more than it currently is.

2011-09-27 [Kyrinn]: A lot of people have shown their support of elftown in rather unhealthy ways..

I think a fresh start on this page would be a good idea. Keep the dragon mascot, but remove all else. I think we just need to update the page with some new art and Elftown Love poetry. :)

2011-09-27 [Paul Doyle]: Yeah, the draggie is cool! Keep it.

2011-09-27 [Paul Doyle]: We could have a poetry contest, or have alternating poems (changed weekly or bi-weekly or whatever people are comfortable with) from a list of those written by people watching this page. I'm in the midst of a major writing groove and even have plans for a comedic Halloween poem (and maybe art, too, if I can make the time) for the ET official Halloween contest, but I know I could bang out a new poem for this page. And I'm sure there are plenty of others who could make new poetry for this page, too.

2011-09-27 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: [Ramirez] and I discussed it. We'll definitely make some changes, update a few things, and do some major brainstorming. Since this is really everyone's community, feel free to add your input in what you would like to see! You can either send the suggestions to me or feel free to post on this page.

I think the pages are already organized nicely, I agree on the new artwork. So, I sense a few competitions and polls in the future.

2011-09-27 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I like that [Paul Doyle]! Maybe we could do a poetry/art&photo competition. We would have to keep the deadlines flexible and let everyone know ahead of time. I like the alternating poems idea. It wouldn't even have to be a poem. It could be just a few loving words.

2011-09-27 [Kyrinn]: I really like the idea of rotating elftown love poetry. :) it would bring watchers back to the page easier.

2011-09-28 [Paul Doyle]: Also, this new poetry could be sent to Daily Poem. Synergy happens when people are willing to make it happen. (And now, hopefully there will be some renewed energy to improve this website's appearance so it will be more attractive to newer users, by making redesigning et a priority? But that's another can of worms . . . )

2011-09-28 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I literally just sent a message about new Elftowners! Haha. It's a big dream for this wiki to help pull new Elftowners in. I'm still brewing on the idea of recruiting.

What I'm going to do is go to each member we have and send a message (in case they're no longer watching) and ask if they would like to stay a part of the group. Out of that I'll make a list of retired members and make a seperate wiki for them to dedicate and we'll keep our active members on the front page to glorify those names.

2011-09-28 [Mortified Penguin]: And I will continue not being a part of this wiki.

2011-09-28 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Would you like us to keep your nominations up in Why I believe in Elftown?

2011-09-28 [Mortified Penguin]: That's a completely different wiki.

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Fair enough. =]

We need someone to volunteer for the graphics job everyone! Let me know if you're interested. Nominations are welcome if the artist agrees!

2011-09-29 [Ramirez]: Elftown apparently doesn't like me and keeps deleting my posts. =/

2011-09-29 [Kyrinn]: O_O Whats going on??

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Whaaa? That's just rude, Elftown!

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Okay, I'm sending out a generic message to everyone, so if you're commenting I'm assuming you're an active Believer. Anyone who doesn't respond to my message, I'm going to put you in the retired believers page. It can obviously always be changed so if someone's gone, decides to come back, we can add to active Believers. I may even put you in there by mistake, lol. It maybe a day or two before you receive the message.

2011-09-29 [XxTsomexX]: I'm sorry :( I'm just not that much of a talker.

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: It's okay! You don't have to be. =] I can't decide if I like the table of names centered better or to the side. =[

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I really need a graphic to go where 'The Believers' are. I realized there's photoshop on this computer so I may do something.

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: If I counted right 66 of the Believers are active 60 days or less. o-o A bit discouraging. We'll refresh and get new members though! =D

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I know I'm commenting a lot, but I feel you guys should know everything, lol. I'm going to send all of the active members the generic message (after awhile) and then we'll see how the list alternates. i categorized the active and retired by how long they were on and some I based off of houses. If they were on 60 days or less ago. I have the retired members listed on Retired Believers and that ones a WIP as well.

2011-09-29 [WonderTweek]: Elftown's just kind of... been dead.

2011-09-29 [XxTsomexX]: Yeah, agreed.

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I know, but I feel unless we stay on and keep it active it's going to die completely. I sure as hell don't want that. =[ Does anyone know if like Elfpack is dead too?

2011-09-29 [WonderTweek]: Elfpack is just about as dead,
It seems more lively to me, but I think that's just because I'm council there.

2011-09-29 [Nocturnaliss]: Elftown fails where it should shine: the art. By which I mean, it's a tedious process to upload a picture - at least, I think so. The art gallery uploading creates isn't dynamic enough, it's not much different than a common photo upload site. I do love the wikis though, you can do pretty much anything you want with them.

It also fails in my eyes as a community. It's actually hard to meet people who share your interests unless you know where to look, which the basic Elftowner won't know.

Maybe it's not the right place to complain XD; still, am I the only one who thinks like this ? (I hope not D:)

2011-09-29 [Mortified Penguin]: It only fails as a community because the quality of people that linger here is so poor. A lot of the time, simply inviting people to a wiki will get you cussed out and blocked. Saying hello to people will get you reported for spam. People just aren't friendly these days. Everything anyone says is taken personally and people are always looking to fight.

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Ugh, unfortunately I agree with it all. I've never been cussed out or reported for spam (that I know of), but I know I don't feel welcome to send everyone a message. I wonder if they're going to go through with the redesign? I hope so, maybe it will catch the eye of younger kids who actually want to share their artwork and get this place active again.

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I tried making a stupid little temp graphic for 'The Believers'. I got the background off the image, but when I put it on Elftown, it's uploading as a jpeg instead of png. =[ I've lost my mind. -_-;

Looks right on the link though.

2011-09-29 [Ramirez]: ELFTOWN STOP DELETING MY POSTS.

21:43:40 (just sent) [Ramirez]: I do get a very standoffish vibe from Elftown now-a-days. Unfortunately most comments I get now a days are from people fishing for conversation that may lead to something sexual. Which is quite unfortunate. But I do get a few writing/art related comments now and again. I haven't really been actively searching for convos either though to be fair. Elftown needs a face lift... and not the creepy kind.

2011-09-29 [Mortified Penguin]: Bob's Diner is a great help to Elftown though. It unites people of all types under one roof and encourages conversation and free thinking. Except we don't have a roof. And the thinking is actually $200 a pop. But we don't call it pop. It's soda, godammit.

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: -giggle at Alex- Free thinking is clearly welcome here as well. It's a big effort to get all the remaining artists on this site to help try and build. I hope this wiki helps push that urge to help make this a nice community again. I know [Hedda] has worked hard to build and run Elftown for as long as it's been.

2011-09-29 [Infested_Zling]: Hay penguin! umm miss Rhytishy could you please put my name on that list... i dont think its up there...*sighs* i need my glasses v-v

2011-09-29 [Ramirez]: You're added, [Infested_Zling]

and ohmaigod why won't the list line up correctly? MY OCD IS ON THE FRITZ.

2011-09-29 [Mortified Penguin]: *eats ramen*

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Okay, everyone should have their message. I even sent one to [FamousPanda]. xD

I was having issues with it horribly. That's why the version number is so high now. xD I keep changing little things here and there. And I'm glad you got that centered. It was bothering me.

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Fixed it! I had to hit enter after the 'The Believers'. I hope that space doesn't bother your OCD lol

2011-09-29 [Ramirez]: I can live with the space. Thank you :)

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Although [Mom]'s retired, I really like her banner. I think we should keep it. =D

2011-09-29 [Ramirez]: I agree. XD

2011-09-29 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I got a message back from [EnigmaXero]and a smiley from [XxTsomexX]! I think we'll be alright. How long should I wait on a reply before I move the names over to the Retired?

2011-09-30 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I thought [Mom] was on the retired list, but she's not!

2011-09-30 [Ramirez]: I'd give it a week or two. Or you can always check to see if they've read the message in your sent. If they did and never replied that's one way to decide.

2011-09-30 [Paul Doyle]: . . . and yet, Elftown doesn't have to fail. Though I became pretty quiet for a long time, I never completely left. While I don't think it's worth going on a crusade to reconnect with people who were driven off by various things (like the [Stoned Immaculate]/[MelaigN] scandal, the poor judgment and utter disdain for the artistically-minded ET'ers displayed by some now-retired Council people, the unwanted Elfpackish changes like "flirts" and so forth) we can create a solid foundation for ET's future. Much of this depends on the prevailing mindset of current Council members (who by and large are quite good, in my opinion) but even more of it relies upon those of us who still feel this website can---when steered properly---be capable of small-scale greatness. If this site is kept reasonably small and manageable, I see no reason why this should be prevented from happening. A lot of it starts at the ground level, but of course the visual overhaul (that is out of the hands of regular Elftowners, though they can certainly suggest) is the key to really making this place appear viable again.

2011-09-30 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: The only downfall is the few who wish to act immaturely. It's like any other environment. Although you don't like the person personally, we need to work together to help rebuild that foundation. Since there's so few of us left, I believe this would be the best time to do so.

2011-09-30 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Two more retirees. =( Anyone want to volunteer to be Innkeeper for The Believers Coffee House?

2011-09-30 [Ramirez]: I'm not sure if that place was even used very much. If someone is willing to try and breathe life back into it, that's fine. But it never really went anywhere to begin with even when this place did start up =/

2011-09-30 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: 'kay, did you want me to sort of discontinue the link or just leave it up for future uses? I can take 'charge' of it for now.

2011-09-30 [Ramirez]: I'm really not sure how I feel about it. I think in general it's a good idea, but what's placed there for the wiki isn't really very productive. If we'd like to change the coffee house to places to leave poetry, art and writing that may be a better idea. It seemed more of bragging grounds and strange rping.

2011-09-30 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Alright, I can work on that.

2011-09-30 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Alright, we're posted up on The Best of Elftown. Everyone go rate us! We have to stay at least a 3.0.

2011-09-30 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I'm just going to talk on here because I keep bouncing around! The 'art corner'. Should it be in the The believers Coffee House to bring spark, have it on Why I Believe in Elftown or should we merge the two?

2011-09-30 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I know I'm pretty much talking to myself, but I think it would be best in The Believers Coffee house. Why I Believe in Elftown will have it's own thing going on when we get updated.

2011-09-30 [Ramirez]: I feel like a lot of stuff from the Coffee House can either be moved or let go. For example, coffee time never went anywhere, neither did Elftown Freak, in defense of the yuck ones. I can see the Solution Center either being scraped or re-done because for one, the original creator has retired. Those things may be able to be replaced by discussions for art/writing/poetry.

2011-09-30 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I'll fancy up the art corner eventually and clean/reorganize/rid of the other stuff. It's keepin' the page looking fuller. hehe

2011-10-01 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Art Corner's pretty much ready to go everyone! Feel free to add your own things! It's in The Believers Coffee House

2011-10-02 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: How long has everyone been a member of Elftown!?

I just realized I've been here just over 7 years!!!

2011-10-02 [Mortified Penguin]: I've only been here a little over a year. I'm liking it so far. :D

2011-10-02 [Paul Doyle]: 8 years, almost 4 months. I joined in June of 2003 and never left :3

2011-10-02 [Kyrinn]: September 22, 2003 for me. D:

2011-10-02 [pegasus1000]: 7 years 8 months.

2011-10-02 [Nocturnaliss]: Apparently I've been here since 2003, June also... wow. That's a long time. XD;

2011-10-02 [Ramirez]: 8 years and 4 months...yeesh. lol Unless it's October 5th... then 7 years 11 months. I forget the order of European dates and I just woke up so I'm not thinking well. :l

2011-10-02 [Nocturnaliss]: I think someone figured that'd be the clearest way to show dates... easy for the US where it's month/day, logical for the European who only has to think backwards. Had it been month/day/year or even day/month/year, it'd be hard for everyone to decypher. At least, I think so <<

2011-10-02 [Ramirez]: I vaguely remember in German that dates were ordered slightly different, but mostly had to do where the year was. Maybe it was a lie.. but then ET made my brain hurt because I wasn't sure if it was day/month or month/day. Hard to tell when it's not large numbers lol But now I know D:

2011-10-03 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: It's okay, we're a bunch of spoiled kids anyway, time we do something someone else's way! xD

2011-10-03 [Ramirez]: B-B-But. I want it my way! -fit-

2011-10-03 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: *Catholic nun with ruler appears* O-o Look what you did!

2011-10-03 [Ramirez]: O_O

2011-10-03 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Everyone! I posted all the links on all the pages aaand we're going to try and be active in Elftowns Old Chat. So if you're feeling chatty go to Mainstreet and come on in to Old Chat!

2011-10-03 [Paul Doyle]: Maybe it's because I grew up in a military family (my Dad was a career US Navy officer), but I still tend to write dates as "3 October 2011" when I can, which is standard US military practice even though common American practice is "Oct 3 2011". Otherwise (when I'm at work and I've got to do some paperwork rather quickly) I'll sign it "10/03/2011". Any format ET uses should be easily understood.

2011-10-03 [Ramirez]: I had a hangover to be honest. Thinking at the time was difficult. -coughs-

2011-10-03 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I'm use to either way. I generally double check the little "mm/dd/yyyy" they have under blanks.

2011-10-03 [pegasus1000]: Recently I have been sorting my pictures by date drawn. If I were to title things mm-dd-yy I would have all of my December pics all combined. SO, I understand why people would want to use the yy-mm-dd

2011-10-03 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: I sort all of mine by year and have month sub folders.

2011-10-03 [Ramirez]: I don't sort mine at all :D

2011-10-05 [Stephen]: Pokemon!

2011-10-05 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: You caught them all?

2011-10-05 [Stephen]: Indeed I did.

2011-10-05 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Would you like to be a Believer? <3

2011-10-05 [Mortified Penguin]: Don't do it! It's a trap!

2011-10-05 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: O-o -grabs chloroform-

2011-10-06 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Everyone! Don't forget to submit your newest uploaded artwork (photography, art, and writings) at The Believers Coffee House!

2011-10-08 [Stephen]: Who wants coffee? :D

2011-10-08 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Everyone with their coffee!!! I've been craving coffee for like 2 days!

2011-10-08 [XxTsomexX]: I had 3 13 oz coffees alone today. D: It's not even the holiday rush at work (not fully at least)
I can say one thing, I've been drawing up a storm... just too lazy to get to the scanner >.> I'll have to when Tuesday when I'm off.

2011-10-10 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Thank you, I can't wait to see them!

2011-10-10 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Also for those who missed out, we added artistic enquiries to our wiki. It's all about art requests. Go check it out!

2011-10-11 [jaraden]: hey hey! i haven't visited here in a while! glad to see the support has grown! good on you guys! let me know if there's any art comps comin up... and is there a support badge i can put on my house to support 'i believe in elftown'??

2011-10-12 [Ramirez]: There isn't really a "badge" right now, or yet. If you would like to help make one that would be wonderful. Currently I am using the banner [Mom] made on my own house. Perhaps it would be an idea to make a competition for badges?

2011-10-12 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Soon we'll need to do 'staff' badges as well.

2011-10-12 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: The competition page is almost finished! What would be a good deadline for everyone? I'm thinking November 20th.

2011-10-12 [Nocturnaliss]: I still have the Halloween competition to enter, and stuff to finish and damnit all for creativeness. I'd personally like just a bit longer, like, beginning of December. It's a week or so more, but it can make a lot of difference @.@

2011-10-12 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: It sure does. I'd really be fine with whatever. I know the Holidays are coming up soon as well and Elftown has a lot of competitions around this time of the year.

2011-10-12 [Nocturnaliss]: That, and I work in retail, so vacation-time is worktime o.o my coworker's on vacation herself most of the month, so I've been more in workmode than creative mode. I'm tired. And sick. :( lol

2011-10-12 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: We can definitely set it to a later date, that's not a problem. It'll give us some more time to improve our wiki as well. =]

2011-10-12 [Nocturnaliss]: I agree. :)

2011-10-12 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Believer's Badge Competition is now open!

2011-10-15 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Just so everyone is aware. I will be making two competitions. One will be for banners and another will be for badges. Can't wait to see the submissions!

2011-10-15 [Ramirez]: Excellent. Thanks for setting that up.

2011-10-17 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: No problem and if you see a deadline, that's not the actual deadline. Everyone will have longer than a month to submit your entries. I know how busy everyone is.

2011-10-22 [Infested_Zling]: Hi ALL!!! *yawns* whats up?

2011-10-25 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Sorry I haven't been on in a few days! My one year wedding anniversary was yesterday and we turned it into a couple of days celebrating, hehe.

2011-10-25 [Nocturnaliss]: Ooo ^^ congratulations.

2011-10-28 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Thank you! ^^ We had tons of fun! We had zebras stick their heads in our car. And Emu's were stalking us.

2011-10-28 [Sauron]: Gotta love the emus (here its ostriches but why be picky) that stalk people!

2011-10-28 [Nocturnaliss]: Actually, emus and ostriches are two different birds... not to be nitpicky myself <<

2011-10-28 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Haha, they had ostriches too. Luckily they were behind a fence.

2011-10-28 [Ramirez]: I wanna emu... one day. One day.

2011-10-28 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Lol, ew! They have red eyes and everthing. Wouldnt have to worry about burglars though. Red eyes and everything.

2011-10-28 [Ramirez]: Haha, better than a watch dog. People would probably be too WTF'ed out to even proceed in a break in.

2011-10-29 [Stephen]: If I don't believe in Elftown, am I a bad person? :(

2011-10-29 [Mortified Penguin]: You're a bad person either way.

2011-10-29 [Stephen]: You're just a useless penguin. *flips table*

2011-10-29 [Mortified Penguin]: MY TABLE!!

2011-10-29 [Ramirez]: I don't think it makes you a bad person. Elftown has been struggling, so I don't at all blame you. But if you have the desire to try and bring some life back to it, that's what this wiki is about.

p.s. safari stop double posting and when I delete one you delete both.

2011-10-30 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Safari just double loves/hates you.

2011-11-03 [Eyden13]: may I please come out of retirement. For some reason I hadn't been able to log on, and my mom managed to fix the problem.

2011-11-03 [Ramirez]: Absolutely! Welcome back.

2011-11-03 [Tynuka-Rhytishy]: Welcome back. ^-^

2012-09-10 [Nocturnaliss]: Y'know, I was just taking a stroll through the 'Town, and realized it's been forever since I saw any new comments here.
And seems like the two open competitions have been running for nearly a year. Not that I'm complaining, I just find it sad.
I dunno, is it just me being smacked in the face by nostalgia or something ? (I'm thinking yes, but I'd also like to think I'm not alone ;_;)

2012-09-10 [Ramirez]: To be honest, I literally open elftown now out of habit without really doing much with it. I think a majority of the problem why this wiki is dead is entirely my fault. I've just been so busy and mostly disinterested with Elftown as of late. I should probably try to poke some life back into it... but I'm not sure if I have the time.

2012-09-10 [Nocturnaliss]: I understand, I use Elftown that way myself... for me, it remains the only place I can meet like-minded people. I'd honestly not know how you could get life back into this wiki... it can't all come from you. I'm just glad someone replies :)

2012-09-10 [Ramirez]: I hardly have time for social sites anymore lol And I hardly talk to anyone on Elftown. It's really lost its appeal to me over the years... Like I said, I return outta habit.

2012-09-10 [Nocturnaliss]: If it weren't for the social sites, I wouldn't even have any social contacts << except for customers at work, but that's just not the same. Bit sad you ceased to believe in Elftown, but it's also understandable. Kinda feels like it's frozen in time. Which I find comforting in a way, but I think that's just me. And I'm rambling. But, it's nice to hear from you :)

2012-09-11 [Ramirez]: It does feel frozen in time, but in a bad sort of way. About 95% of the people I "grew up with" on Elftown have disappeared suddenly or willingly gave up the site. And I haven't really made much an effort to find new people to talk with. And it seems like a lot of the new members don't care much for art and writing but find this to be more a chat or dating site. Which is irritating... but I also acknowledge that I am bias because I haven't really explored it much as of late.

2012-09-11 [Nocturnaliss]: I've never really explored it at all, ever, hence why I have a list of exactly 8 relations XD I remember leaving for a couple of years as well, several years ago, because ET seemed like, as you say, a chat/dating site. Returned eventually for I dunno what reason anymore, and this time I stuck around. There's still people worth interacting with, even if they can't replace the people you knew. Times change, ET doesn't. Don't think it ever will. Yet, I tend to have more meaningful conversations here, than anywhere else. But, again, that's just me XD

2012-09-12 [Mortified Penguin]: Have you ever considered branching out to members of the community that you may have overlooked the last few years? Or wikis you may have disregarded? When was the last time you thought, "Hey, I should talk to [Mortified Penguin] and get to know him!" or "I should give Mort money and naked pictures of myself!"? Only a few times this week, that's when. Of course Elftown will seem dead to you if you keep staring at its corpse. But try flipping it over and you'll find that it's still teeming with life. The seedy underbelly of what you would consider a dead website is thriving, you just need to reach out, scoop up a handful of maggots, and talk to them. And maybe eat a few.

2012-10-15 [Stephen]: Mort, sometimes you make me cringe. xD

2012-10-15 [XxTsomexX]: XD That was a beautiful paragraph. Disturbing, but inspiring.

2012-10-16 [Stephen]: Although, actually, since this is a niche community that can actually make it more difficult to get to know people. I won't class language barriers, since most members of Hedda's sites do know English, but it tends to be difficult to strike up (lasting) conversation with strangers.

Of course, that applies to pretty much all aspects of life; strangers tend to think you're weird if you just start talking to them out of the blue, unless it's about a point and at which point once the point ends thus does the conversation.

Unless, of course, you're a ramen eating penguin who takes strange pleasure into harassing strangers into friendship. <img:44166_1164145171.gif>

2012-10-16 [XxTsomexX]: It's very true. Even in real life, talking to strangers can be nerve wracking. I have this unfortunate habit of saying all thoughts out loud, and they spew out of my mouth like word vomit. It only gets worse when I'm anxious or nervous.

2012-10-16 [Stephen]: That'd be interesting. <img:44166_1164144892.gif>

I suppose it would also count as a conversation ice breaker, even if it's not really in the form you'd choose it to be. <img:stuff/dand-gif.gif>

I do wish it was easier to talk to people here though. For a community of like minded individuals (mostly..) it's strangely difficult to really make a lasting conversation with someone. <img:stuff/zabuN-gif.gif>

2012-10-16 [XxTsomexX]: It is. I get messages every now and then, people saying hi and shenanigans like that. I like to type out answers, but I have come to find that it scares people into silence. Either that, or my word vomit scared them off.

2012-10-16 [Stephen]: Word vomit sounds colorful. <img:44166_1164145147.gif>

I love talking to people, but I tend to chat away happily when I'm free, however then I get busy or involved in things and have to stop responding (on Elfpack I have some messages 100+ days old <img:44166_1164145209.gif>) then I feel bad for ignoring people. <img:stuff/mood9-gif.gif>

2012-10-16 [XxTsomexX]: I try not to ignore people. Even if I can't find something to say, I find a witty or just scary looking photo and send it to them.

2012-10-16 [Stephen]: Jesus Silvie! x)
At that point you're better off just deleting it, unless it's there for some sentimental reason. I'd have a total "wth" moment if I got a message that was a response to something I'd sent four years ago. <img:44166_1164144892.gif>

If I can't think of a response, I try to at least send a smile face or something else, so I'm not completely ignoring someone. Unless it's the obvious end of a conversation, anyway.

@Silvie: There's days I just decide I'm going to sit down and spend my normal Elfpack productivity time answering messages. The downside tends to be people then respond to your response, and you don't really make any progress. <img:stuff/br2N-gif.gif>

2012-10-16 [Stephen]: rotfl.

What a great outlook, lolol. Well, if I've ever sent you a message within the last four years without a response, now I can wonder if it's in your massive buildup of message. *chuckles*

2024-03-30 [Joe!]: I still believe :)
